PHONE + SMS AUTOMATION

Missed-call text back for local service businesses

When you are with a customer, a ringing phone can leave the next inquiry unanswered. A missed-call text-back workflow can send a short, approved SMS, collect the reason for the call and give your team a clear callback task. We first check whether your phone system and messaging permissions support that flow.

01

What happens after the missed call?

The phone provider reports an unanswered call. The workflow checks the call outcome, messaging permission, opt-out status and recent contact history. If eligible, it sends the approved message. A reply goes to the shared inbox or CRM, and the owner receives a callback task. A repeated webhook must not send the same text again.

02

An example message your customer can understand

Illustrative copy, sent only to an eligible recipient: ‘Hi, this is [Business]. Sorry we missed you. What service do you need, and when is a good time to call back? Reply STOP to opt out.’ We adapt the wording to the business, permission collected and provider requirements. This example is not a live demo or a claim about customer results.

03

A missed call is not permission for a marketing sequence

We check the consent path before enabling automated texts. An incoming call alone should not be treated as blanket permission to send SMS. If messaging permission cannot be verified, the workflow creates an internal callback task instead. Opt-outs stop further automated texts; numbers that cannot receive SMS need another route.

04

Who answers the reply?

A named person or shared team inbox owns the conversation. An automatic text does not confirm an appointment, promise a price or mean a technician is on the way. Booking is confirmed only after the agreed scheduling checks. We can start with a fixed message; AI is optional.

05

Can you keep your current phone number?

Often, if the provider exposes reliable call events and supports the required messaging or forwarding setup. We inspect the current account before recommending a change. Number transfer, caller ID, existing routing and registration requirements are checked separately; compatibility is not assumed.

06

What does setup cost?

Automated SMS after a missed call is included in the $149/month care plan. Setup and support of the standard text-back workflow are included. Before activation, we confirm phone-system compatibility, messaging permission, the approved text and who handles replies. Any phone-number, carrier or registration fees are agreed in advance. More complex phone or CRM automation is scoped separately.

07

What can we show from our own work?

This agency website already stores form inquiries and queues internal owner alerts. That is a working example of intake and notification plumbing, not evidence that missed-call SMS is deployed for every client. Your phone workflow is scoped and tested on the actual provider before launch.

Questions before you start

Do I need an AI voice agent?+

No. A fixed SMS and human callback can be the entire first project. Add voice AI only if call handling requires it.

Does every caller receive a text?+

No. Sending depends on permission, opt-out status, number eligibility, call outcome and the provider. We define a fallback for suppressed or failed messages.

How do we measure whether it helps?+

Track eligible missed calls, provider delivery reports, replies, callbacks and confirmed appointments. A message accepted by a provider is not proof of delivery, a booking or a sale.

Start with the calls you cannot answer

Tell us your phone provider, what should happen after a missed call and who will answer replies. We will confirm feasibility, scope and costs before implementation.
